Setting up your Shop and putting products in your messages

Add your products, open your Shop, share its link, then feature up to ten products in a message campaign and check how members will see it before you send.

The Shop is in beta

It is built and taking real orders, but switched on account by account while we prove it with live partners. If you cannot see Shop in your portal, ask us on the contact form and we will turn it on. Products in messages come with it.

The Shop is your product list, your own shop link and a card checkout that pays straight into your account. Members order for collection, delivery or post. And once your products are in, you can put them in the messages you send: they appear as cards under your message, and each one opens in your Shop, ready to buy.

This guide takes you from an empty Shop to a message that sells. The screens are from Northbank Roasters, our test shop.

Set up your Shop

  1. 01
    Switch the Shop on

Go to Settings → What you sell and turn on Shop, or press Add a Shop on the Sell products too? card on your home screen. Shop then appears in your menu bar.

The Shop is kept apart from your Menu: a florist does not need table QR codes, and a café's Shop does not fill up with its breakfast menu. Switching either off only hides it; nothing you have built is deleted.

  2. 02
    Add your categories

Open Shop and press Add your first products, or + Add category under the ones you have. Give each category a name — Coffee, Gift boxes, Brewing kit — an optional description, and a layout:

    • Photo shows each product as a card with its photo. Right for most things.
    • List shows compact rows with no photos. Right for extras and add-ons.

The Ideas row offers ready-made names to start from.

  3. 03
    Add your products

Press + Product on a category. Add up to five photos — the first is the one members see on the card — then a name, a price, a category and a description, and set the switches you need. Product fields below explains each one.

A product needs a name, a price and a category. Press Save product.

Already have a printed price list? Press Scan a price list, photograph up to six pages, and check what we read before anything is added.

  4. 04
    Check your product list

Your Shop page shows every product by category, with its photo and price. Each row has a switch to mark it sold out and a pencil to edit it. To count stock, open Stock and press Count stock: the product sells down to nothing and then shows as sold out on its own.

  5. 05
    Open your Shop for orders

Until your Shop can take orders, its page shows a checklist, Sell online from your shop link, with four steps:

    1. Add your products.
    2. Connect Square or Revolut, in Settings → Payments, so orders are paid straight into your account.
    3. Accept the merchant terms. You are the seller of what you sell, and refunds are yours.
    4. Switch on collection, delivery or post, in your Shop's Settings.

In Settings you also choose whether to accept each order yourself, whether people can order without an account, whether to ask for tips, and which campaign a paid order feeds with Award a stamp on payment. You can add a banner and a notice for the top of your Shop.

  6. 06
    Share your shop link

Open Shop link. Copy the link, share it straight to WhatsApp, Facebook, email and more, or print its QR code for your counter or window. Anyone who opens it can order from you, and members earn a stamp with a paid order when you award one on payment.

Put products in a message

Once your Shop is open, any message campaign can carry your products.

  1. 01
    Start a message campaign

Go to Message Center → New campaign. Name the campaign (up to 15 characters, for your own reference) and choose who it goes to, then press Continue until you reach the Message step.

  2. 02
Write the message and pick your products

Write your subject and message as usual. Under them, Products from your Shop lists everything you sell:

    • Tap a product to add it. They are numbered in the order you pick them, and that is the order members see. To change the order, untick one and pick it again.
    • You can pick up to ten.
    • Switch on Add a “Shop” button to put a button under the products that opens your whole Shop.

On a wide screen, How members see it sits beside you and redraws as you write.

  3. 03
Check How members see it, then send

Press Continue to the Review step. How members see it shows the message exactly as the members app will draw it when a member opens it: your business, the subject, your message, the product cards with their prices, and the Shop button. Each member sees their own name where your message has one; the preview uses a sample name.

Check who it goes to and when, then press Send message — or switch on Schedule for later.

  4. 04
    What members see

When a member opens your message, your products sit under it, two to a row on a phone and three on a wider screen. Tapping one opens that product in your Shop, ready to add to the basket; the Shop button opens everything you sell.

Good to know

  • Prices are read when the message is opened. A member opening your message next week sees next week's price. A product that has sold out says Sold out; one you have taken off your Shop is left out.
  • Nothing shows while your Shop is closed. If ordering is paused, or no way of taking orders is switched on, the message shows without its products and the preview shows the same.
  • The push notification stays plain text. The products appear when the member opens the message.
  • The members phone apps show product cards from version 3.3.0. On an older version a member sees your message without the cards; the members web app shows them already.
  • Email is written separately. With Send it as an email too on, press Make the email from this message: your subject becomes the headline, followed by your message, the same products and a button to your Shop. It becomes an email design of your own to change in the designer, and does not change when you edit the message. See Sending a message campaign by email.

See what a message sold

When a member taps a product or the Shop button in your message and orders within a week, the order is counted against that campaign. Your campaigns in the Message Center show what each one sold — for example 2 orders · £54.50 (in the app) — split between the app and email when it went both ways.

Selling food rather than products?

Your Menu has its own shop link for food collected or delivered. See Selling online.
